"Y'all, It's MANGO Season"

– By Helen Greenfield

What do MANGOS have to do with holistic healing? Well, I believe the King of Fruits (aka mangos), when consumed in-season, locally, organically grown, and ripened correctly, increases vital energy, promotes heart health, and improves gut health—because if the gut isn’t happy…nobody is going to raise their vibe!

Backstory. One year ago, we never imagined that in our wildest dreams, we would live in Southwest Florida, i.e., paradise! We had filmed a Manatee Spirit YouTube Video set in St. Pete, Treasure Island, and Fort DeSoto State Park, returned home to Charleston, SC, and sometime between finishing editing and uploading the video, my spirit guide announced,

“You’re moving to BRADENTON!”

I thought, “Where’s Bradenton?”

Check out the video! While filming and editing this video, we still had no clue we would move to Bradenton!

We looked up the location, and it was ZONE 10A. Curiosity piqued, and honestly ready to adventure beyond Charleston, we drove to Bradenton and found our home within days! And when we learned that mama manatees train their babies in the canal behind our house, the name Manatee Spirit popped into my head. Manatees are supposedly the best animal moms. And at Manatee Spirit, we aim to be the most nurturing sound facilitators too 🙂

We moved to Bradenton at the end of mango season 2024, planted 20+ fruit trees in our all-new suburban food forest, and almost a year later, I am BLOGGING about the BEGINNING OF MANGO SEASON 2025! Isn’t life such a weird and wonderful journey?

Teaser: Divine Time is my jam! I will soon blog about divine, cyclical, and linear timelines! Also, food forests are how I roll. And the Manatee Spirit food forest will be featured here too!

Arriving late to the party last year, I gathered that mango season 2024 was a dud. I heard it a lot. Everybody told me the same thing. “Worst year ever!”

But… 2025 is entirely different! Mango snobs are optimistic! It should be a long, abundant season of bliss for mango lovers!

The hype is real: I’ve already swooned to the exotic tastes of Mahachanok, Nam Doc Mai, Lemon Zest, Fruit Punch, Cogshell, and Glenn!

Verdict? Oh. MY! Heaven! Let’s get into it…

Where to find OUT OF THIS WORLD Mangos? (Not at the grocery store, ha-ha, but you already know that!)

Fruit hunter Helen’s Early Season Mango Scoop!

Although local people say to knock on the doors of homes with neglected mango trees, I’m not there yet! But, as a SW FL newbie, I’d like to share two of my favorite mango vendors! And as I discover different venues, I’ll share them in future blog posts! Please feel free to share your fruit-hunter successes here, too!

St. Pete Summer Market:  I drive to St. Pete almost every week to shop for Lev’s in-season,

SW Florida rare tropical fruits! Starting 6/7/25, the market will move to the shade of Williams Park, 350 2nd Ave N, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Check out Lev at: Florida Fruit Coop. https://floridafruit.co/
